Dear intrepid B2B Marketer, I know that you may think content is hard and you don’t quite know where to start. So we are putting together a little series about different types of content that you should explore. On today’s agenda: blogs.
I can already hear you. Writing a blog feels stressful and your head is already hurting, right?
But blogs don’t have to be these terrifying monsters. If you don’t have the in-house capacity to write the blog, you can outsource it. My friend says “outsourcing your blog is cheating,” but it isn’t. You still have editorial power but more time to do things like...actually running your company.
There are many great brands out there that can help you with the process and you can always outsource it to your content marketing consultant.
Blogs are great for a multitude of reasons; but here are three:
1. Search Engine Optimization: blogs are full of compelling content that search engines can find and index to make it easier for your consumer to find when they are searching for related topics.
2. You demonstrate authority on a topic and it helps your consumers trust you more.
3. Blogs hosted on your website are great pieces of content that will help your consumers to convert much easier (read: purchase.) If there are questions that your consumers tend to ask, or any barriers to conversion that they struggle with...write about them!
But what if you want to create this content in-house? Here are some tips to get started:
Create a list of topics that you want to cover. This list should preferably be bolstered by popular Google (or Bing or Yahoo) searches in your industry or about your brand.
Start with the first two topics then jot down some points about what you want to say and why your consumer should care.
Keep going back to these notes and build them up over time.
Start your first draft of your first blog topic and just freely write. There will be time to clean up after.
